Northern Colorado Area Details
Greeley
Greeley has a mix of housing that accommodates its diverse set of citizens. Greeley is home to the University of Northern Colorado which is the State’s 3rd largest university. Greeley is also home to Colorado’s largest meat packing plant, just outside the city. The homes vary widely from older college housing, to small 1950s and 60s homes, to larger and newer suburban developments. The city can generally be broken up into those 3 parts as well, with the university in the center, the older homes on the east and south side, and the newer homes on the east side of the town.
Generally speaking, the farther west you get in the city, the newer the homes will be. There is also a slew of more rural homes around the city as well. Many of these properties are on wells. These are good candidates for our water quality test. There are also quite a bit of newer homes on the northwest side of the town near to the business park.
Evans – LaSalle – Kersey
Evans was the first town established in Weld County back in 1869, and was known then as the Queen-City-of-the-Platte. The town was named after Governor John Evans. The city sits to the south of Greeley and Garden City. The city is home to many single family residences and neighborhoods. LaSalle and Gilgrest are further south of Evans and Kersey is to the east. As of the 2000 census, there were over 3400 housing units in Evans. The estimated population in 2015 was over 20,000 residents, making Evans one of the fastest growing cities in Colorado.
If you are having a home inspection done in Evans, we recommend having a radon test performed. Past radon testing in the Evans and Greeley areas have shown higher than normal levels, as compared to testing done in other regions of Colorado. In addition, expansive soils are present in the area, so strong attention is paid to the foundation of the home when doing an Evan home inspection.
